11 FAQs Before Signing Up.

By| Rachel Barrett

Account Manager at The Production People

Rachel Barrett

The Production People are 17 years in business this year and I have been lucky enough to have spent the last number of years with the team getting to know the ins and outs of our niche market and the staffing needs within it.

Our team specialise in staffing solutions for the Broadcast, Media & Audio-Visual sectors, here in Ireland. Today, I wanted to help our current and future candidates to gain a better understanding of what it is that we do and how we might be able to help them find work in the future.

Keep reading to check out some of our most Frequently Asked Questions – OR – if you don’t see the Q & A that you want to know more about, you can email me at info@productionpeople.ie or call today on (01) 634 3100.

Q1: What type of work do you offer?

A: We provide temporary, part-time and freelance work for our candidates. However, we have also provided some seasonal and full-time opportunities.

Q2: What clients do you work with?

A: Some of the clients which we provide staff for include RTE, BBCNI, Eir Sport, Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Kite Entertainment & Cogs & Marvel to name a few. Our client list is constantly expanding and growing in all areas of Broadcasting, Events & Film Production.

Q3: What locations do you provide staff in?

A: We provide staff across the entire island of Ireland. The majority of our staffing requirements are based in the Dublin area but some other locations include Belfast, Wicklow & Limerick.

Q4: Is there a fee to sign-up?

A: No – We do not have a sign-up fee, sign-up is completely free.

Q5: Do I need to have qualifications or field experience to sign-up?

A: Yes – Our clients expect a certain level of professionalism and knowledge from the candidates which we place with them. We do provide entry-level opportunities, however, we encourage candidates who have completed studies relating to the industry or who have practical experience to apply.

Q6: What do I need to sign-up?

A: You will need a CV, Resume or Credit List to sign up. Additional information which is useful for us to have included; a cover letter, portfolio, show-reel or demo-reel and links to your online platforms such as your website/Instagram/LinkedIn.

Q7: What happens after I sign-up?

A: After you sign-up we carry out a screening process with all of our candidates. Everyone is not automatically added to the database, firstly we need to verify that you have the correct aptitude and attitude to be considered for work with our clients. We review the submitted documents and will invite you in for a meet & greet which will be used to delve deeper into your experience, motivations and interests. After a successful meet & greet you will be added to our database and considered for suitable work.

Q8: Do you actively promote specific candidates to clients to try and secure their work?

A: We are always trying to find the right person for the jobs that come into us but that will always stem from what the client needs. We do not operate as an agent for the candidates but rather as a staffing resource for the clients. We always want to provide great opportunities for our candidates however it completely depends on what our clients are currently in need of.

Q9: How does the booking process work?

A: When a client sends us a job spec we will carry out an availability check with all suitable candidates. Once we have determined who is available and interested we will send a package of our suggestions to the client for review. The client may decide to shortlist and interview candidates or else they will select one person from the group. Sometimes our clients will ask us to select someone ourselves for the placement which makes the process move a little faster. Booking time frames can vary from 24 hours to a week to a couple of months depending on the type of work and the length of the contract.

Q10: How much work will I get?

A: It’s impossible to predict how much work anyone who is added to the database will be booked for. It depends on what the client is looking for, your suitability for their project and your availability. We cannot guarantee that you will secure work with us but we will always put you forward for jobs you are suitable for.

Q11: How do I get paid, and who pays me?

A: For the majority of our temporary and freelance staff, payments are made fortnightly and are done by our accounts team at The Production People. PAYE, Sole Trader & Limited Company Contractors are all paid via The Production People. In the case that you have been placed in a more permanent role, you may be taken on and paid by the client which you have been placed with.
